Bernita Mae Bishop

Bernita Mae Bishop passed away on January 11, 2019 at the age of 89 in Allen, Texas where her final care was provided.  She was born on July 29, 1929 to Clive Heath and Osa (Garrison) Heath in Atherton, Missouri.  Bernita was married to Richard R. Bishop 46 years prior to his death in 1997.  She resided in Irving, Texas until her husband’s retirement and then they moved to Wolfe City, Texas.  Bernita was a devoted homemaker to her husband and sons.  She was a master seamstress, knitter and crocheter who could work any needle.  Bernita made clothes and blankets for her entire family. She had a fiber arts knitting, crocheting, weaving, and sewing shop in Greenville, Texas for ten years in the 80s.  Bernita enjoyed baking and especially loved making homemade breads.

She is survived by her brother Elbert Heath; sons, Henry R. Bishop, M.D. of Cuesta, New Mexico, Axel W. Bishop L.A. of Thailand and David R. Bishop, DDS and wife, Bonnie of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Bryan Bishop, Brooke Bishop, Sierra Bishop-Burchell, Olivia Bishop-Chaudhuri, Noel Bishop, Weston Bishop and Miles Bishop; five great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and family.

Bernita was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard Bishop; brothers, Mack Heath, David Heath, and Nige Heath.
