Bernice Bennett

Bernice Bennett, age 69 of Melissa, TX, passed away January 4, 2005 at her home. She was born October 1, 1935 in McKinney, TX to Avery Webster and Eva Jean (Eubanks) Murphy. Bernice was a seamstress for Haggar Slacks and retired after 30 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Melissa. Survivors include her sons, Travis and Steve Bennett, both of Melissa and Sgt. First Class Wayne Bennett and wife Iris of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; grandchildren, Mark Bennett, Kristen Bennett, Allen Bennett, Tiffany McCorkle, Kayla Bennett, Racheal Bennett, Josh Bennett, Jessa Bennett, Lisa, Michael, and Kevin Jamison; great-grandchildren, Melody, Savannah, Christopher McCorkle; brother, Pete Murphy of McKinney; sisters, Juanita Akins of Van Alstyne, TX, Charlotte Green of Garland, TX, and Brenda Griffis of Wylie, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Bennett; and brothers, James, Wayne, and Jack Murphy. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 7, 2005, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Thursday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
