Bernard M. “Buddy” Dowden, age 64, of Mesquite, Texas, passed away after a courageous battle with heart disease on August 6, 2007 in Dallas, Texas. He was born September 20, 1942, in Muncie, Indiana, to Bernard Marion Dowden, Sr. and Carol Jane Hunter. Buddy was a painter and wallpaper hanger and a member of First Assembly of God Church in Pottsboro. Buddy retired to Lake Texoma where he enjoyed lake life, gardening, and his many lake friends. He was an avid golfer who loved his pets, Tex, Snoopy and several cats. He is survived by his wife, Betty Standerfer Dowden; son, Chris Dowden and his wife Beth of Marshall, IL; daughters, Amy Francis and Judy Davidson and her husband Bob, all of Marshall, IL; step-sons, Andy Fielder and his wife Christi of Mesquite, TX and Danny Fielder of Ft. Worth, TX; granddaughters, Sydney Davidson, Jackie Donnelley, Makela Dowden, Sasha Fielder, Andrea Fielder, Ashley Fielder and Haley Davidson; grandsons, Joey Francis, Michael Davidson, Andrew Davidson, Jason Donnelley, Jason Fielder and his wife Renae, Shawn Fielder and Linda, Adrian Fielder and his fiance Sara; great-grandson, Austin Dale Fielder; great-granddaughters, Azura, Ruby, and Raven Fielder; sisters, Debbie Downden and Barbara Rowe of Terra Haute, Indiana; and numerous other nieces, nephews, friends and loving relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and one brother. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 11, 2007, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Dolan Stevenson officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation at the funeral home on Friday evening beginning at 7:00 PM.
