With profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well lived, we announce that Benson Tan Chua peacefully joined his Creator on February 13, 2026 at the age of 52.
Born on February 20, 1973, in Santiago City, Philippines, Benson was the beloved son of El Ben Co and Biyok Tan. From an early age, he showed kindness and warmth to everyone he met. He embodied thoughtfulness and generosity that defined his whole life.
Benson practiced dentistry in the Philippines for seven years before migrating to the United States with his wife and eldest daughter in 2004. He later pursued a new path, returning to school and becoming a registered nurse in 2009. Through his dedication to serving and caring for others, he touched countless lives with his empathy, compassion and gentle care.
Benson was naturally gifted in many ways - a true jack of all trades, a "MacGyver", who could fix, build, and solve almost anything. He had a talent for the arts - loved singing though only in the shower, playing the guitar & ukulele. He was a perfectionist and had a knack for precision that showed in the sports he enjoyed like target shooting, playing billiards, and darts. A natural comic at heart, he found joy in making others smile and laugh; his welcoming nature put people instantly at ease. He loved to cook for family and friends, enjoyed reading manga and comic books, and took pleasure in building and collecting die-cast mecha robots.
On March 4, 1999, Benson married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Marie Pascual Carag, in Quezon City, Philippines. Their marriage was a testament of true love, devotion, and faith.
Benson was a member of Chase Oaks Church, where he strengthened his faith and served faithfully until the decline of his health. There, he and his wife found a Life Group who walked alongside them through both joyful and challenging seasons, becoming their cherished and lifelong friends.
Above all, Benson loved his family deeply. He is survived by his wife, Marie, and daughters, Kaira and Briella from Allen, Texas; his mother, Biyok Tan; his brothers, Winston, James, Gilbert, Jimmy, and Francis; and his sisters, Shirley, Evelyn, and Ronabee. He was preceded in death by his father, El Ben Co, and brother, Joseph Christian.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home on Friday, February 27, 2026, 4:00 p.m., at 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will also be livestreamed at the follwing link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/benson-tan-chua.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations. Thank you for remembering them with your kindness.
