Benny Jackson Drye passed away May 5, 2023 in Allen, Texas at the age of 90. He was born to Spencer and Roy (Cagle) Drye on April 10, 1933 in Concord, North Carolina.
Known to all who knew him as Jack, he grew up in North Carolina and Silver Springs, Maryland. Jack served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He was active in Boy Scouts of America as a Scoutmaster for many years and helped many Scouts with merit badges and advancements. Jack was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served as postmaster in Crowell, Clarksville and Winters, Texas. After retiring from the United States Postal Service, Jack and his wife moved to American Fork, Utah. Jack later lived in Shreveport, Louisiana to be closer to his family.
Jack is survived by his son, Stephen Tyler Drye and wife, Tina of Fairview, Texas; grandson, Christopher Tyler Drye of Fairview, Texas; granddaughter, Claire Elizabeth Drye of Fairview, Texas; brother, Kenneth Drye and wife, Anita of Thurmont, Maryland; and brother, Clifford H. Drye and wife Debbie of Delmar, Maryland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita M. Sumpter, his sister, Martha Burchette, and brother, Gary Drye.
A graveside service will be held at 11:15 a.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
