Benjamin James Murphy of Allen, Texas passed away January 19, 2019 at the age of 48. Ben was born on March 8, 1970 to Richard Alan Murphy and Wanda (Marshall) Murphy in Dayton, Ohio. In 1992 Ben took a leap of faith and went on a blind date with a woman to whom he would later devote his entire life. Ben married Nadine Lund on September 12, 1998 in Dallas, Texas. Ben spent the majority of his teenage years living in Green Bay, Wisconsin with his parents. It was in De Pere, Wisconsin where he attended Abbot Pennings High School that his love for the Green Bay Packers and cheese began and never ended. Ben was a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan and spent every Sunday watching the game with his family and friends. Ben was a man full of passion both personally and professionally. He always put his family first and never failed to make an effort to remind them how much he loved them. Ben made a huge impact in the trucking community having been one of the initial innovators of FreightTech and having served as an executive at both Integrated Decision Support Corporation (IDSC), the business his father started and then later, FreightWaves. Ben enjoyed spending time with his family at the ranch where he would attempt to sing Janis Joplin, support his dad restoring old trucks, and drive the mule in search of the best place to hang the hammocks, where they would spend countless hours just being together.
Benjamin was a loving husband to his wife of 20 years, Nadine Murphy, a dedicated father to their children Kaitlyn, Samantha, and Ryan, a loyal and caring son to his parents Richard and Wanda Murphy, a supportive brother to his sister Christine (Murphy) Harris and her husband Scott Harris, and a generous uncle to their son Marshall Harris.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
