Ben M. Byrd passed away on March 13, 2024 at the age of 94 in Southlake. Ben was born in Lindale, TX May 8, 1929 to Ben M. Byrd, Sr. and Millie Mae (Clark) Byrd. He married Patsy Gooch In 1950 and they embarked on their life-long journey together.
He served as an officer in the US Army for 28 years taking his family all over the country. Upon retirement, he, Pat and their two daughters made their home in Hurst. He embarked on a second career with Gearhart Industries/Halliburton as VP of Human Resources for 18 years. He served his Lord as a Deacon with Shady Oaks Baptist Church. He was a volunteer with Texas Baptist Men, Disaster Relief Team, Christian Builders, and N.E.E.D. Ben loved his family and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Wills of North Richland Hills and Vickie Neal (Tony) of Mildred; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife of 71 years, his parents, five siblings and son-in-law, Ed Wills.
A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Shady Oaks Baptist Church 1336 Cavender Drive, Hurst, Texas 76053. The burial will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at DFW National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
The family invites friends to a visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the same location.
