Aug 22 1938 - Jan 03 2019

Basil Lee Webb Jr., 80, of Allen, Texas passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Allen after a short illness.  Beloved by family, friends, and his long time church brethren at First Christian Church of McKinney, Lee will be sorely missed.  Born August 22, 1938 in Brownfield, Texas to Basil Lee and Robbie Marion Hardin Webb, Lee grew up in Levelland and attended Levelland High School, Lubbock Christian College now Lubbock Christian University, and Texas Technological College now Texas Tech University.  Lee was a Grocery Store Manager, Realtor, Broker, home builder, entrepreneur and a member of the Lubbock Lions Club.  During his life, Lee provided for his family through various careers connected with Piggly-Wiggly, Shop Rite Foods, Nabisco, Webb and Rothwell Realtors, Dollar General, Voortman Cookies, and The Attic Storage – Allen, Texas.  An avid sports enthusiast, Lee adopted the Allen Eagles as his team, and was a staunch supporter attending as many games as he could.  For much of his life, basketball was his most accomplished sport. At any age Lee could shoot free throws consistently without missing, and never had to chase the ball. It wasn’t uncommon for him to sink 80 plus in a row.  Growing up in Levelland, much of his time was spent playing basketball. He had skills and was efficient with both hands. He played college basketball at L.C.C.  Lee played softball well into his 60’s, for a senior league in North Texas.  As a writer, he produced several seasons of sports coverage stories for the local Blue Ridge paper. His articles are displayed in many homes throughout the small town.  He was a coach for his sons’ baseball teams as they grew up through the years; always making time for a sport that he loved.  Golf also provided a great source of pleasure for Lee, playing with friends and family and seeing big tournaments with his son David.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bethelyne Rogers Webb of Allen, Texas; son Joe Dan Webb and wife Debra Kay Diffenderffer Webb of Allen, son Gary Mack Webb and wife Lisa Dianne Jones Webb of Blue Ridge, Texas; brother Robert Raymond Webb and wife Stacey Barrett Webb of Kansas City, Missouri, sister Patsy Webb Beebe and husband James Malcolm “Jim” Beebe of Sugar Tree Golf Club in Lipan, Texas; grandchildren Charles Brooks Yandell and wife Emily Bell Yandell, Mary Katherine "Katie" Webb Vanderbeek and husband Pete Louis Vanderbeek, Sarah Nichole Webb Ary and husband Matthew Conner Ary, Christopher Ryan Webb, Amy Lauren Webb, and Kevin Mitchell Webb; one great-grandchild Charlotte Yandell;  numerous nieces and nephews Andy Ray Junod, Arvelene Junod, Roger Lynn Juno, Robert Jay Juno, James Edward Walker Jr., Debra Annette Beebe Souder, James Brian Beebe, Patrick Martin Beebe, Michael Todd Bennett, Melissa Marie Webb Millstein, Derek Sandlin Webb, Ashley Lauren Webb Folger, and Robert Tyler Webb.
