I did not know Barney personally but spoke to him on the phone often. He was always a pleasure to speak with and you could almost feel his smile through the phone - for that reason I honestly want to send my thoughts and prayers to his family. Kenia Gravagna, May 6, 2021 My sympathies to the family of Barney. I always enjoyed his company and had many happy times with him and the family! He was a wonderful person! Patricia Riley , May 5, 2021 Barney made such a positive impact in our lives; our thoughts and prayers are with the family and everyone he loved!
Adriana Gonzalez, May 2, 2021 Barney was great man who not only loved life but did it his way. He was encouraging and joyful spirit to be around. During my tenure at BofA Barney would pour so much knowledge and wisdom in to me, and was always willing to help. Even after my time at BofA he would continuously check on me and provide words of encouragement. He was a man that was able to connect with people and leave an impression on everyone he crossed paths with. There was no social barrier that Barney could not break through. Oh and you better believe he loved the Tennessee Titans. I can remember this past NFL post season I asked him " Hey Barney what are those Titans going to do this weekend ?" and in true Barney fashion he replied " Kick some ass" lol. There are not many people you meet that on this earth that are consistently a joy to be around. Barney was always that light for me. He gave me the confidence I needed professionally as a loan officer and as an individual. His last piece of advice to me was to "Live the life that you want to live, even if that means you got to do it by yourself". Those words will stick with me forever. I miss Barney Matthews, the coworker, the friend, and mentor. Blessing to his family! Much Love, -Quinton Quinton Nunn, April 23, 2021 I knew Barney through work, and I loved every minute I was around him. He was a great loan officer and an even better man. He will be missed for all the love and knowledge he showed. I missed out on going to breakfast with him, Bill Debacker, and Orlando on Sauturdays, but I heard so many stories about those mornings when working with him at Bank of America and Great Western. He will most definitely be missed by anyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. God bless everyone that is feeling his loss. James Hanson, April 22, 2021 So honored to have known Barney. Sending prayers to his family for peace during this difficult time.

Donovan Shea Stamps Donovan Stamps, April 21, 2021 To the Mathews family- I'm so sorry for your loss, Barney was one of a kind. I worked with him at the bank, and to say he was a pleasure to be around is a huge understatement. I don't know that I've ever met anyone quite like him- right off the bat he dazzled you with his warm, open nature, and his incredibly sharp wit. He could make me chuckle halfway into a sentence. Just walking by his desk and hearing him talk to a client always put a smile on my face. He will be missed. JT JT Todaro, April 21, 2021 I am so deeply sorry for your loss.
