Barbra Ann Gunter, age 75, of Allen, Texas, passed away on January 5, 2017. She was born November 24, 1941 in Wylie, Texas to Eldon Douglas and Mary Lorene (Evans) Dyer. On December 31, 1960, Barbra married George Thomas Gunter in Plano, Texas. She graduated from Plano High School in 1960. Barbra worked at Texas Instruments and then later at Computer Language Research as a marketing manager. After retiring from CLR, she served at Roundtree Elementary School in Allen as a Special Education Para-Professional. Barbra was the President of Old Settler’s Association of Plano, a member of the Red Hat Society and Mended Hearts of Plano. She was also an active member of First United Methodist Church of Allen, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Sojourner’s Sunday school class.
She is survived by her sons, Greg Gunter and wife Samantha of Allen, Texas, Grant Gunter and wife Christa of Rancho Santa Margarita, California; grandchildren, Jeffrey Gunter and wife Shanda of McKinney, Texas, Gage Gunter, Stephanie Gunter and Sydney Gunter all of Allen, Texas and Sarah Gunter of Flagstaff, Arizona; great-grandson, Jackson Gunter of McKinney, Texas; sister, Theda Dyer Medley of Plano Texas; nephew, Jeff Cotten and wife Amber of McKinney, Texas; great-niece and great-nephew, Katelyn and Colt Cotten of McKinney, Texas; many other loving relatives and friends.
Barbra is preceded in death by her parents, Eldon Douglas and Mary Lorene Dyer; as well as her husband, George Thomas Gunter.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, 601 S. Greenville Avenue in Allen, Texas.
