Barbara J. Brown of McKinney, Texas passed away on February 11, 2019, at the age of 87. She was born on September 28, 1931, to Edgar and Maybell (Garrison) Outhouse in Goose Creek, Texas (currently known as Baytown, Texas). Barbara was raised in Hawkins, Texas. She attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. In 1952, Barbara graduated from North Texas State College (UNT) in Denton, Texas with a BS in Education. Barbara was a member of Chi Sigma Phi. She taught school in Anna, Texas for two years. Barbara married Chrit Stephen Brown, Sr. on December 28, 1952 in Hawkins, Texas. They shared forty-nine years of marriage until his passing in 2001.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Steve Brown and wife, Renae of Mineral Wells, Texas and Greg Brown and wife, Mary of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Matt Brown of Dallas, Texas, Angela Brown Cook and her husband, David also of Mineral Wells, Texas, Wm. Collier Brown of Dallas, Texas, Andrea Brown of McKinney, Texas and Carson Brown of McKinney, Texas; great-grandchildren, Amber, Sarah, Elizabeth, Molly and Jase Cook; brother, Tomy Outhouse and wife, Mini of Austin, Texas; sister, Jeannene Meinecke of Pasadena, Texas; and numerous other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chrit S. Brown, Sr.; parents, Edgar and Maybell Outhouse; and brothers, Raymond and Jimmy Outhouse.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
