Barbara Thompson Shore, 72, was born on March 22, 1949, and passed away February 13, 2022, from a long battle with kidney and liver disease.
Barbara was born in Sylva, NC and grew up in Murphy, NC. She attended Murphy High School in North Carolina and Young Harris College in Georgia before a career in banking in Atlanta, GA. That is where she met the love of her life, Steve Shore. She also lived in St. Louis, MO; Southlake, TX; and most recently Frisco, TX.
Barbara had many hobbies including ceramics, crafting, scrapbooking, traveling, and shopping. While her children were young, she served in the PTA and was a constant volunteer at their school. She was also a huge sports fan and had a passion for football.
She will always be remembered for devoting her entire life to taking care of others. Her love for family and friends were what defined her as a person, and she would do anything to help someone else in need.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Steve Shore; daughter Stephanie Shore; parents John & Docia Thompson; and sister Wanda Thompson.
Barbara was survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Timothy & Anna Shore of Celina, TX; grandchildren, Carter & Sophie Shore of Celina, TX; brother Tom Thompson of Savannah, GA; brother-in law David Shore of Alpharetta, GA, sister in-law Katie Spayd of Watkinsville, GA; five nieces; one nephew; and many cousins.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church in Celina, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in honor of Barbara to the Lymphangiomatosis and Gorham’s Disease Alliance at www.lgdalliance.org. This is the disease Barbara’s daughter battled with her entire life.
