IN LOVING MEMORY

Barbara Shelton-Maynor

Mar 30 1956 - Aug 16 2024

Barbara Ann (Wilson) Shelton-Maynor, a resident of McKinney, Texas passed away August 16, 2024, at the age of 68.  She was born on March 30, 1956, to B. W. and Elma (Arnold) Wilson in Crosbyton, Texas.  Barbara grew up in Odessa and graduated from Ector High School in Odessa.  In 1976, Barbara was blessed with her son Jason, and shortly after, her family grew with the addition of Kim.

Barbara worked as a Business Office Manager for a significant part of her career before retiring. However, retirement didn't slow her down. She embraced a variety of odd jobs before finding her calling as a patient representative.

In her downtime, Barbara was passionate about sewing. She spent many hours creating blankets, mending clothes, and making garments for her children. Her green thumb was evident in her love for gardening; she didn't shy away from getting her hands dirty to cultivate her dream garden.

Barbara was a dedicated member of Price Temple Church of God in Christ in Greenville. Rain, sleet, or snow, she never missed a service and was actively involved in Bible Study and Sunday School.

When she wasn’t sewing or gardening, Barbara enjoyed spending time with her best friend Vanessa. They enjoyed going to lunch on a weekly basis to their favorite restaurants Cheddars or Saltgrass Steakhouse, and then they would go shopping. Barbara enjoyed shopping for clothes and hunting for deals online on Temu and Amazon. Her enthusiasm for finding great bargains was just one of the many ways she expressed her vibrant and active lifestyle.

Barbara is survived by her son, Jason Shelton (Claudia) of Dallas, Texas; daughter Kimberlea Shelton, of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Jadia, Lauryn, and Ruben; sisters, Wanda Crawford of Conroe, Texas, Gwen Arnold of McKinney, Texas, Lindsey Wilson, of Mansfield, Texas, and Patricia Johnson (Johnny) of Moore, Oklahoma; brother, Billy Wilson (Crystal), of Arlington, Texas; and a host of other loving family and friends, who will dearly miss her and forever cherish her memory.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents B. W. and Elma (Arnold) Wilson; husband, Franklin Maynor; daughter, Courtney Shelton; and sister, Mildred Dixon.

In honor of Barbara's memory, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Samaritan Inn, 1514 N McDonald St., McKinney, Texas 75071.
