IN LOVING MEMORY

Barbara Lois Edwards

Apr 30 1954 - Apr 12 2026

Barbara Lois Edwards passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026 surrounded by family and close friends, just days shy of her 72nd birthday. She was born on April 30, 1954 to Sanford Milton Edwards and Lois M. (Craig) Edwards in Newark, New Jersey. Barbara grew up in Iselin, New Jersey where her love for learning and education blossomed. She later attended Glassboro State College, now known as Rowan University, to earn her bachelor’s degree before bringing her talents down to Texas to be with family.

Barbara pursued her passion for education wholeheartedly, obtaining her master’s degree from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. She found her calling in the classroom, teaching 2nd grade and later working in Special Education at Allen Independent School District, where she dedicated her heart and energy to shaping young minds until her retirement in 2013.   She truly made a difference in so many lives.  Her students’ interests were always her priority, and she generously sponsored Special Olympics events, creating lasting memories and impactful experiences for those she taught.

A lover of the great outdoors, Barbara enjoyed spending her time at the beach, camping by the lake, and boating, particularly at the Jersey Shore where many joyful summers were spent. She also had a passion for stained glass and poured her creativity into her projects when she wasn’t playing softball as a catcher or spoiling her beloved rescue dogs.

Barbara’s life was a beautiful testament to generosity, compassion, and connection. She made a lasting difference in the lives of many, and those left behind will carry her spirit forward. Barbara was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend forever cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a warm presence, always thinking of others and ready to lend a helping hand.

Barbara is survived by her nephew, Robert Edwards, Jr of McKinney, Texas; niece, Katie Edwards of Massachusetts; cousin, Chuck Carter and wife Carol and family of Broker Arrow, Oklahoma;  Susan Page of McKinney, Texas; close friend, Paula Uland and husband, John of Farmersville, Texas; lifelong friend, Vicki LePage of Howell, New Jersey; and dear friend, Jeff Koschack of Allen, Texas will forever hold her close in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bob Edwards, Sr.
