On March 24, 2023, Barbara Flowers, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away at the age of 86 in Frisco, Texas. Barbara was born on November 14, 1936 in Haskell, Texas, to Willis Weaver and Wilma Elizabeth Blake Hines. After graduating from O’Brien High School, Barbara went to McMurray University for several years.
Barbara then moved to McKinney where she raised her two boys, always seen in the stands or on the sideline cheering. Barbara loved her family with all her heart and was truly happiest when at gatherings surrounded by all of them.
Barbara was a member of the First Methodist Church of McKinney where she shared her beautiful soprano voice with their choir. Barbara loved her Lord and looked forward to her Sunday School Classes each weekend.
Barbara also had a passion for her country. She was proud to be an American and was seen often wearing her Red, White and Blue and her American Flag pin. And her favorite question? “Have you Voted yet?”
Barbara is survived by her two sons, Rick Shields and his wife Lynn from Wichita, Kansas, Victor Shields and his wife, Sonia from Frisco, Texas, step-daughter Kim Cothren and husband Randy, step-son Michael Flowers and wife, Susan and grandchildren, Josh Shields, Shea Stanfield and husband Andrew, Victoria Shields and partner, Tim Carpenter, Katie Shields and partner Michael Shaw, great-grandchildren, Jordan Shields, Cody Shields, Savannah Carpenter, Addie Shaw and Charli Elizabeth Shaw and her best friend of 60+ years, Sandy McLeroy and husband, Clint.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Elizabeth, husband Keith Flowers, brother Roy, and her beloved dog, Brinkley.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Heritage Touch, LLC and Trio Hospice for the wonderful care given to our mother over the last several weeks.
The funeral service will be held at Berkshire Chapel, 9073 Berkshire Drive, Frisco, Texas, on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., with a visitation beginning one hour prior at 1:00 p.m. Interment follows at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
