Barbara Elaine Marshall

Barbara Elaine Underwood Marshall, age 96, passed away on October 25, 2024, in Mount Pleasant, Texas.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 701 North Cedar Street, Leonard, Texas 75452. A graveside service at Leonard Cemetery will follow the visitation.

Barbara was born on January 19, 1928, in Orange, Texas to the parentage of Theo Welton Underwood and Agnes May Mahaffey Underwood. She was reared by her mother and caring stepfather, Albert J (Shorty) Clark.

Barbara was a devout member of the First Baptist Church. She accepted Christ at the age of 12 and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Bonham, Texas where she later married her husband. She was married to Raymond A. Marshall on August 3, 1946, in the Pastor’s study of the First Baptist Church. They were married for 56 years before he passed away. They were blessed with two sons. She moved her church membership from Hickory Creek to Leonard First Baptist Church in 1946 and continued there until she passed away.

Barbara worked beside her husband in their farming and ranching operation and for 17 years in the cafeteria for Leonard Schools. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching the Texas Rangers. She loved her sons and their wives, was just delighted in her grandchildren, and adored her great grandchildren.

Barbara will be remembered by her son, Russell Marshall and wife, Laquita, of Simms, Texas; grandchildren, Jason Marshall and wife, Shanna, of Palestine, Texas, Judd Marshall and wife Courtney, of Mount Pleasant, Texas, Christopher Marshall and wife, Kimberly, of Southlake, Texas, and Carolyn Miller and husband, Sky, of Monument, Colorado; and great grandchildren, Tanner, Reid, Quinn, Tenley, Jacob, Marshall, and Miles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Marshall, and son, Raymond Lynn Marshall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made out to the Leonard Cemetery.
