Barbara Ann Zimmer went home to be with her Lord on May 15, 2018. Barbara fought a great battle, but finally surrendered into the loving arms of Jesus. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and dedicated friend.
Barbara was born October 20, 1941, in Tuckerman, Arkansas, to Lillian Wheeler Hays and Emmett Hays. Barbara was surrounded by her husband of 53 years, Walter Zimmer, and her children, Susan Jolley and her husband Monte of Bartonville, Texas, and Tracy Franklin of Edmond, Oklahoma. She was proud of her grandchildren, Hayden Norton of Frisco, Texas, Zachary Franklin, Ryan Franklin and Jackson Franklin of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Peyton Jolley and Rachel Jolley of Bartonville, Texas. She will be deeply missed by her sister, Peggy Pendergraf and her husband George of Seneca, Missouri, and brother, Roger Hays of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Ann Norton.
For many years, Barbara was a records secretary and assistant to Pastor Sam Dennis at Parkway Hills Baptist Church, Plano, Texas. Barbara and Walt were avid vacationers and traveled extensively throughout the world.
Family and friends are invited to a Visitation at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013, on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Parkway Hills Baptist Church, 2700 Dallas Parkway, Plano, Texas 75093, on Friday, May 18, 2018 beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Ridgeview West Memorial Park in Frisco, Texas.
