Barbara Ann Kanady

Barbara Ann Kanady, a resident of Sherman, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024, at the age of 78.  She was born on May 9, 1945, to Wade and Bess Kanady in McKinney, Texas.

Barbara's journey began in McKinney, where she graduated from McKinney High School. Her passion for caregiving led her to pursue a devoted career as a certified nurse's assistant, blessing countless lives with her compassion and dedication. Barbara retired from McKinney Healthcare, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and professionalism.

Among her many passions, Barbara had a deep love for animals and found comfort in their companionship.  An avid reader, she found delight in the pages of countless books. Barbara also found joy in exploring new places, cherished memories through her travels. She shared many adventures with her sister and loved to share stories of their mischievous time together. The two of them would tackle anything together.  Barbara had a playful side, often delighting in harmless mischief like hiding puzzle pieces from her dear sister, bringing laughter and lightness to their bond. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Barbara's legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will be cherished forever.

Barbara is survived by her sister, Mary Wallace of Sherman, Texas; brother, James “Bud” Kanady of Windom, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Bess Kanady and brother, Billy Don Kanady.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Barbara’s obituary page by clicking on the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/barbara-ann-kanady.  After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location.  Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
