Avaughn Crouch, age 97, of Allen, Texas, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and loyal friend passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, January 8, 2024. A native Texan, Avaughn was born September 21, 1926, in Blue Ridge, Texas to James “Jimmie” Winfrey Crouch and Annie Ethel Goodman. The fourth born of five siblings (Ramond, Clifton, Doris and Leon), Avaughn grew up in Sherman, Texas and attended Sherman High School.
Avaughn Crouch served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a CPL. He was drafted a second time in 1949 to the U.S. Air Force S/Sgt{T} and was deployed overseas to the Philippines.
On December 26, 1947, he married LaVeda Virginia Fitzgerald in Sherman, Texas, and had four children, who were his everything and proudest achievement.
For over 30 years, Avaughn worked in sales as a Regional Manager at Nestlé Foods, the world's largest food and beverage company. His children and grandchildren fondly remember receiving Nestlé chocolates for birthdays and holidays.
Avaughn was a member of the Twin Creek Church of Christ in Allen, Texas.
A devoted car enthusiast, in his free time, Avaughn enjoyed refurbishing cars in his garage, usually not far from one of his dogs.
Avaughn was very active in sports throughout his youth. He especially enjoyed bowling and once scored a “perfect game.” An avid football fan, Avaughn never missed a Dallas Cowboys or University of Texas Longhorn football game. From bean-bag baseball to Wii bowling, Avaughn remained active with friends at Parkview in Allen, Texas, where he will be dearly missed.
His greatest joy in life was his family. Avaughn is survived by sons, Michael Avaughn Crouch and wife, Marla of Naples, Florida; Ricky Stephen Crouch and wife, Beverly of Wylie, Texas; Glenn Alvin Crouch and wife, LeeAnn Crouch of Wylie, Texas; daughter, Alisa Michelle Crouch of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Tonya Davis, Cody Crouch, Carrie Crouch and Alle Houstoun; and great-grandchildren, Isaak Davis, Noah Crouch, Emerson Lucero, Giles Houstoun and Charles Houstoun. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66-years LaVeda Crouch in 2013 and infant son Phillip Crouch.
A memorial service will be held 12:00 noon, Friday, January 19, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
