Aurel Leviu Filimon

Aurel Leviu Filimon of McKinney, Texas passed away on February 9, 2020 at the age of 93. He was born on September 2, 1926 to Ilie Filimon and Ecaterina Ghinghiloski Filimon in Galati, Romania. Aurel graduated from Bucharest Law School in 1962. He worked his entire career as a jurist economist. Aurel married Nicolina Arghir in 1955 in Bucharest, Romania. He was a member of the Romanian Christian Orthodox Church.

Aurel moved to the United States in 1996 to join his daughter, Simona, and to help with raising his grandson, Dan. He would walk Dan from Valley Creek Elementary every day, he learned English to talk with him, and supported all of Dan’s academic pursuits since.

Aurel is survived by his daughter, Simona Basceanu and son-in-law, Laurentiu Basceanu of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Dan Basceanu and granddaughter-in-law, Katarina Ruby Basceanu of Carrollton, Texas; niece, Rodica Anka Genzel of Germany; niece-in-law, Mariana Filimon of Romania; great-niece, Carmen Bacchus of Germany; and great-nephew, Mircea Filimon of Romania.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ilie and Ecaterina Filimon; wife, Nicolina Filimon; brother, Mircea Filimon; and nephew, Ilie Filimon.
