Ashley Mackey Taylor Van Voorhis, 52, died on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Faith Hospice in Dallas, Texas following a courageous 11 month battle with cancer.  She was a resident of Allen, Texas at the time of her death.  Ashley was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, spent her childhood there, and later moved to Richardson, Texas with her family.

Ashley was the daughter of Judith Wintle Reynolds of Richardson (Mrs. James S.) and Frank Howell Taylor of Shreveport.  She was the wife of Thomas Henry Van Voorhis and the proud mother of Morgan Gloria Van Voorhis.

She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Mary Clyde (Mimaw) and Cmdr. Jack William Wintle , her paternal grandparents, Elsa and Frank Mackey Taylor, and her mother-in-law, Gloria Van Voorhis.  Ashley is survived by her parents,  her sister, Jessica Taylor Brown of Dallas, her aunt, Jackie Wintle of Plano and NC, her step father, James S. Reynolds of Richardson, her step-mother, Michelle Taylor of Shreveport, her step brother, Dr. Logan Faust of CA (Jackie), half brothers and sisters: Franklin Taylor of Shreveport (Carol), Hilary Taylor LeBlanc of Baton Rouge (Jay Paul), Dr. William Taylor of Arizona (Kasey), Edward Taylor of Shreveport (Wendy), Charles Taylor of CA, Hannah Taylor of Shreveport, and Winslow Taylor of Japan, her sister-in-law, Amber Ashcroft of PA (David), brother-in-law Tim Van Voorhis of PA, father-in-law, Tim Van Voorhis of PA and numerous cousins, nieces and nephew.

Ashley attended Southfield Independent School and First Baptist schools in Shreveport, and Berkner High School and Richardson High School in Richardson.  She received her Bachelor degree from the U of Texas in Austin, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi, and participated in a variety of campus activities such as advertising, modeling, and membership in Aker's Angels and Match Mates.  She loved to travel, and while in college, she enjoyed a 6 country tour of Europe one summer and a tour of South Africa another summer.  Travel would always remain a goal for the rest of her life.

Following graduation, Ashley worked in the insurance business with Aetna, Travelers, John Alden, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Great West Healthcare as Managed care provider, Director of network development, Network Manager, and Account Manager.  She then took courses at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD and received her Masters in both Business Administration and Healthcare Administration from the U of Houston.  She became a Healthcare Intern at Presbyterian Healthcare system in Dallas, living on the campus and working on many management responsibilities at the hospital.  After purchasing a house that led to a short career in Real Estate with Ebby Halliday, she was hired by Medicare Centers as a Manage care Plan Manager.

Ashley and Tom married in January of 2006.  By the end of the year in December, they were blessed with their precious daughter, Morgan.  Ashley soon became a stay-at-home mom, the favorite career of her life.  Morgan has been the special sunshine that has brightened her mother's heart.  Ashley was not only a fabulous mother on earth, but she will always be Morgan's very special guardian angel from Heaven.

As a Junior League Volunteer, she worked at Baylor University Medical Center's Twice Blessed House for organ transplant recipients and at Our Children's House, a transitional home for abused children.  She was volunteering in Allen with a program for underprivileged children, when she was diagnosed with her cancer.
