On Thursday, June 11, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones, Arturo Lopez Diaz began his everlasting life, leaving behind a world filled with family, friends, and community members who loved him deeply and will miss him dearly.
Arturo was born on July 10, 1961, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Juan and Amparo Lopez Diaz. He was the ninth of eleven children. In 1962, the Diaz family permanently relocated to McKinney, where Arturo found the hometown he would dedicate his life to serving and improving.
Arturo graduated from McKinney High School in 1979. On July 16, 1983, he married the love of his life, Olga Salazar, in Robstown, Texas. Together they shared 42 wonderful years of marriage, raising four children and welcoming twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Known affectionately by many as “Mr. Arthur,” he served as a custodian for McKinney ISD for 37 years, working at both Finch and Malvern Elementary Schools before retiring. In April 2000, he also began working at Old Settlers Recreation Center, where he recently retired after 26 years of dedicated service.
Arturo was often described as hardworking, family-oriented, and always smiling. He loved telling jokes, dancing, and giving nicknames to just about everyone he met. He cherished his mother, his family, McKinney Lions football, and his beloved Dallas Cowboys.
He was the cornerstone of his family and treasured every opportunity to bring loved ones together. Whether hosting a barbecue, gathering everyone for a spirited game of Lotería, preparing a big family breakfast complete with homemade tortillas, or cooking a large pot of menudo, Arturo’s greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved.
Mr. Arthur was not only beloved by his family but also respected and admired throughout the community he faithfully served. Through his years of service, he watched generations of McKinney children grow up, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives through his kindness, dedication, and warm spirit.
His legacy of love, laughter, service, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
