Arthur "Art" Kenneth Weiner

Arthur “Art” was born in Chicago, Il on Feb. 9, 1923, the first son of Victor and Sadie (Golde) Weiner. He joined his wife and son in heaven on September 21, 2019.  Art grew up in the Chicagoland area with his parents and younger brother Ralph.  He attended Lane Tech High School and joined the Boy Scouts and became an Eagle Scout.  He served in the US Army during WWII stationed in the South Pacific and Japan.  Upon returning home after the war he graduated college and began his life long career with the Boy Scouts of America in Chicago.  Art met his wife Edythe (Weaver), a minister and school teacher.  They married in 1952 in Windber, PA.  A son David was born in 1953 followed by son Terry in 1954.  Art was promoted to the Boy Scouts National headquarters in New Jersey in 1962, and Art and Edythe moved their family to Princeton, NJ where their sons grew up.  In 1979 the Boy Scouts national office moved to Irving, TX, and the family moved to Dallas where Edythe became a school teacher for the Richardson School District.  Eventually both sons joined them in Dallas.  Art retired from the Boy Scouts in 1988.  Art and Edythe were devout in their love for Christ and were charter members of St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Plano, TX where they attended for over thirty years.  Art is preceded in death by his wife Edythe Mae, son David, and brother Ralph.  Art is survived by sisters-in-law Rosalie Weiner and Esther Shoup, his son Terry and wife Kimberly, granddaughters Jill Dawson (David) and Joanna Webb, grandsons Jarrett Webb (Katherine) and PJ Weiner, great-grandchildren Oliver and Hannah Dawson and a host of nieces and nephews.  In lieu of flowers you may donate to St. Andrew United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.  Interment will be at Ridgeview West Memorial Park in Frisco, TX.  A memorial service is pending.
