Arthur Burkett, age 76, of Rowlett, Texas, passed away August 24, 2013, in Rowlett. Arthur was born February 7, 1937, in Graham, Texas, to Dudley and Myrtle Eunice (Littrell) Burkett. He married Lavern Burch on February 8, 1985, in Wylie, Texas. Arthur was employed with Texas Instruments in Richardson, Texas for thirty-seven years. He umpired softball for the ASA in Plano and was a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Lavern Burkett of Rowlett, Texas; son, Mark Sandifer of Marshall, Texas; sister, Lera Jean Pope of McKinney, Texas; step-children, David Burch and wife, Julie of Fairgrove, Missouri, Debra Kay Kitchens and husband, Mark of Keller, Texas and Eric Glover and wife, Diane of Quinlan, Texas; and grandchildren, Donny Sandifer, Brandon Simmons, Colin Simmons and wife, Megan, Jordan Simmons, Tyler Simmons, Joshua Burch, Hannah Simmons, Katie Burch, Kirby Kitchens, and Shaun Kitchens.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Chambersville Cemetery in Chambersville, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
