Arlie Reed, age 72, passed away in her home in Leonard on January 3, 2021. A service will be held in her honor this summer when her family and friends can gather together to celebrate her life. Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in White Oaks, New Mexico.

Arlie was born February 29, 1948 in Morton, Texas to Rodger (Bill) and Edith (Spencer) Reed. Arlie attended high school in Carrizozo, New Mexico where she was the salutatorian of her senior class. She was also the first ever recipient of the Carrizozo Women’s Club Scholarship. She attended both Lubbock Christian College and Texas Tech University. She then went on to have a successful career at Texas Instruments for 21 years.

Arlie was a very proud mother to her son, Rodger Reed who she raised in Hurlwood, Texas. She was a very dedicated and hard working mother who was surrounded by a loving family which included a few lifetime loyal friends. Her favorite time of year was her family reunion each summer. She was known for her beautiful, handmade Christmas ornaments. She made them for every family member and close friend for many years, and they will be treasured for many years to come.

Arlie is survived by her son, Rodger Reed and wife, Carmen, of Leonard; sister, Merlene Lash, of Lubbock; brother, Raymond Reed and sister, Peggy Pinson, of White Oaks, NM.; Grandchildren, Hunter Reed and Taylor Reed, of Leonard; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rodger (Bill) and Edith (Spencer) Reed; brothers, Leon Reed, and Lyndol Don Stoneman; and her niece, Vicki Sorensen.

A memorial service will be held this summer in White Oaks, New Mexico.
