Arlene B. Gode

Arlene Beatta Gode, 88, of Celina, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018.  She was born August 10, 1930, to Irving and Anna Reinke in Truman, Minnesota.

Arlene grew up in Fairmont, Minnesota, and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1951; where she contributed many pieces of artwork to the school paper.  Arlene continued expressing her artistic talents thru painting and crafting.  She acquired a passion for quilting and created many original pieces.  Arlene also worked with her church’s quilting group that donated beautiful handmade quilts to various charities.  Arlene was active in the annual POP Mega Sale where she loved to organize the craft area; and volunteered at the church’s Mission Outpost Food Pantry.  As an active golfer, Arlene enjoyed participating in local ladies’ golf tournaments.  Arlene had a precious gift of hospitality.  She loved creating special meals, decorations and games for family holidays and annual sisters’ reunions.

Arlene is survived by her children, Cindy L. Menz (Ken) of McKinney, Texas; Becky A. Will of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; Timothy L. Comer (Leanne) of Oak Harbor, Washington; and their father, Robert L. Comer.  In addition, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  Sisters – Carolyn Kotewa of Fairmont, Minnesota; Lorraine Zipf of Waukesha, Wisconsin; Sylvia Miller (Rich) of Saddlebooke, Arizona; Eunice Olson (Don) of New Ulm, Minnesota; Ruby Ask of Billings, Montana; and many nieces/nephews.

Arlene is preceded in death by her husband, Delbert R. Gode; son, David R. Comer; and sister, Revertta Groenke.

A “Celebration of Life” service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 13901 Fairview Drive, Burnsville, Minnesota, will follow with a luncheon. Inurnment will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
