IN LOVING MEMORY

Annette Denise Kern

Dec 22 1960 - Apr 18 2004

Annette Denise Kern of Allen, beloved wife of Nathan; loving mother of three very special young boys David, Daniel and Michael; loving daughter of Billie Joe and Charlsie May; loving daughter-in-law of Byron and Dinah Kern, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2004 in Plano, Texas. She was born on Dec. 22, 1960 in McKinney, Texas and baptized into the body of Christ on Nov. 2, 1975. She was raised in Farmers Branch, Texas. She especially loved her early childhood time with her grandparents, Charlie and Lena Stone, at their farm near Celina in Collin County. She graduated Salutatorian of the Class of ‘78 from RL Turner High School in Carrollton and earned a BSEE with honors from the University of Texas in Dec. ‘82. She married Nathan Frederic Kern of Richardson, Texas on Dec. 30, 1982, and settled into their first house in Plano, Texas. In 1983, she became a confirmed member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Plano. She designed microprocessor circuits and one integrated circuit, at three successive jobs over an 8 year period – Mead Office Systems, Rockwell Lightwave Transmission Group, and finally Abbot Laboratories. She also started earning a Master’s degree in EE in 1988. In 1990, she left Abbot Laboratories and graduate school to become a wonderful mother of three boys. David Byron was born in 1990 and a move was made to a larger house in Allen, Texas to accommodate the family to come. David was followed by Daniel Joseph in 1993 and finally Michael Karl in 1996. Annette was a loving and caring mother. She worked hard and ran the household meticulously. She attended home school book fairs, organized curricula, and set out to home school all three boys – David through the fifth grade, Daniel through the third grade, and Michael to the present in the second grade. Annette was diagnosed with Lymphoma soon after the birth of Michael. Her life was devoted to Jesus Christ and to her family as she struggled with this illness. Every year that God added to her life was another year she used to raise her boys and to teach them the lessons of faith and life that she knew they would need to live beyond the day she entered heaven. As she was lifted by the power of Christ’s love, she likewise lifted others by the example of her faith, devotion and love. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her heart and treasured her love and friendship. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 20, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in McKinney. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 6565 Independence Pkwy, Plano, TX at 1:30 PM Wednesday, April 21. Interment to follow at Old Celina Cemetery. Annette loved flowers. Or she would be happy with memorial donations made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Farmers Branch Church of Christ earmarked missions/outreach. “Death has been swallowed up in victory….thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 15:54,57.
