Anna Ruth Jones Stetenpohl of Allen, Texas passed away August 14, 2023 at the age of 90. She was born on December 25, 1932. Anna Ruth married Norman Stetenpohl on March 8, 1957 in Bokchito, Oklahoma. She took care of Norman for 7 years as he battled leukemia, and they had 36 years of marriage before his passing in 1993. In her earlier years, Anna Ruth worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell in Sherman, Texas for many years. She later worked at the Allen High School Snack Bar for seven years. Anna Ruth was an avid reader and sewer. She was quite social, enjoying dominoes and visits with friends and neighbors. Anna Ruth most loved spending time with her family and her church girlfriends. She was a devoted 56-year member of First Baptist Church in Allen where she was a Sunday school teacher. Anna Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be lovingly remembered for her kind and loving heart.
Anna Ruth is survived by her daughters, Julie Stetenpohl Porter of Flower Mound, Texas and Jeannie Stetenpohl Petrykanyn and husband, John of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Kelsey Porter and husband, Blake Van Brunt of Princeton, Texas, Brandon Porter of Flower Mound, Texas and John Norman Petrykanyn of Allen, Texas; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other loving family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norman Stetenpohl; parents, John and Lila “Eva” Jones; sisters, Jaunice Sullivan and Ione Dyer; and brothers-in-law, Lendell Dyer and Howard Sullivan.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 21, 2023 at First Baptist Church, 201 East McDermott Drive, Allen, Texas 75002. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
