Anna Mae Rey, 83, passed away surrounded by her family on February 1, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on March 27, 1940, to James Zeller and Lela Mae (Josey) Zeller in Dallas, Texas. She married George C. Rey in November 1968.
Anna was an Elementary school teacher and Librarian in the Dallas School District and enjoyed working with children all her life. She taught George W. and Laura Bush’s twins in 6th grade. She loved being a Texas woman and loved her Cowboys football team.
Anna will be remembered by her sons, Jim Yoder of Halstead, Kansas, and Tom Daum of Milton, Wisconsin; stepson, Jorge Chavez-Rey (Sylvia) of Davenport, Iowa; granddaughters, Jessica Yoder of Newton, Kansas, Valerie Daum of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Kayla Daum of Janesville, Wisconsin; grandsons, Zach Yoder (Kristen) of Newton, Kansas and Jake Yoder (Breeze) of Rockaway Beach, Oregon; five great grandchildren, Parker Murphy, Eli Yoder, Annika Yoder, Abigail Yoder and Audrina Sendelbach; one great-great-granddaughter, Londyn Murphy; nephew, Jay Jones of Edmund, Oklahoma; and Brenda Haydel of Maurepas, Louisiana and Gladys Runnels, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who have always been faithful ‘sisters’ to Anna.
Anna was preceded by her husband, George C. Rey; parents, James and Lela Mae Zeller; brothers, James Jones and Charles Zeller; sister, Marie Zeller; and granddaughter, Nicole.
A funeral service officiated by Pastor Robert Stolte, will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
