You have got to wonder if it wasn’t love at first sight when 15-year-old Anita Carroll met her neighbor, tall, good-looking Jerry Hamilton, and determined to marry him. Which she did on March 3rd, 1956, in Texarkana, Texas, at the age of 16!
And for 58 years she lovingly shared his life. Her death January 18, 2024 at the age of 84 gave her the freedom for her to be with him again. Although she strived to move forward after losing Jerry, during her nine years here without him she struggled with melancholy and then debilitating health issues.
She lived a full life supporting Jerry in his work and retirement. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She worked some outside their home but taking care of her family and home was what she loved the most.
She liked doing crafts (and she was very good at them), taking care of her yard and flowers. She liked to fish and go RV-ing and camping at Lake of the Pines and Lake Ray Roberts. She and Jerry were park hosts at Lake Ray Roberts for many years. They spent many great hours together watching the birds and other critters and in helping others to feel welcome at the park. Every New Year’s Eve they would bring in the new year with a glass of bubbly by the campfire no matter how cold it was.
Anita is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jerry, her parents Jake and Lola Carroll of Lockesburg, Arkansas, and granddaughter Amanda Heard of Whitney, Texas.
Anita and Jerry will be forever joined in their eternal life when their ashes are combined.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra K. Heard and husband, Jeff of Frisco, Texas; her son, Jerry A. Hamilton, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Frisco, Texas; her sister, Andrea Timmons and husband Frank of De Queen, Arkansas; grandchildren, Jake, Jason, Jerry III, Kathy, Blake, Joshua, Emily, Shane, and Teryn, and their spouses; 20 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
The family invites you to a Celebration of Life at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow, 8520 Main Street, Frisco, Texas, on Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
