Angelita Hernandez passed away June 22, 2023, in Dallas, Texas at the age of 48. She was born to Alfredo Hernandez and Linda Decoteau on January 7, 1975, in Pahokee, Florida.
Angelita worked as a Hair Designer (Angel’s Hair Designs) for over 20 years. She was passionate about hair and honing her craft to bring beauty to all her clients that she truly adored. Angelita was not only creative with hair, but she would also turn up the volume on her Christian music and break out the paint brushes to bring colors to life on a blank canvas. Angel also had a green thumb. She loved gardening, tending to her plants and keeping fresh flowers in her home to enjoy.
Angelita is survived by her two beautiful children, Jaeden and Jadis; parents Linda and Roger Oakes, aka, Mimi and Pops; sister, Chavelita Boll and husband Dan; brother, Stefen Oakes and wife Annie; nieces and nephews, Isabella Boll, Caden Boll, Jensen Oakes, and Riley Oakes. She is also survived by siblings, Phillip Pergament, Amanda Montijo, Freddy Hernandez, and a host of beloved extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Alfredo Hernandez, grandparents, Frankie and Gus Decoteau, and aunts, Martha Strahan and Bien Venida Viola.
Angel took pleasure in journaling, strengthening her faith and relationship with the Lord. She loved reading her bible and understanding the precious gifts God had provided for her on this journey. Angel also appreciated her devoted prayer warriors and all the people who continued to pray and support her and her Family in faith during this tremendous battle.
Deuteronomy 31:6, Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
In Angel’s words, “This was one of my favorite scriptures and this was spoken over me several times to help wash the blues away.”
Angel loved living life to the very fullest. She loved doting on her family and friends on every special occasion. Most of all she loved raising, nurturing, and being a Mommy to her two precious children.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Berryman and his team at Texas Oncology - Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center and Dr. Sina Najafi and his team at Baylor Scott & White for the outstanding care they gave Angelita over her three-and-a-half-year battle with Leukemia.
