It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Angelique. She passed away unexpected from this life the evening of August 19th after a rather recent diagnosis of heart disease while visiting her family in the United States. She spent the greater part of her visit in Texas in pain at the hospital for prolonged tests, procedures, and operations. Her beautiful heart was tired.
Angelique was born in Burkina Faso on September 3, 1954, to Laurent Marchal born in Guinea and Helene Terrason born in Ivory Coast. She was raised in both Burkina Faso and Guinea, Conakry with her 10 siblings: Claudette, Jeannette, George, Marie-Laurence, Louis, Roger, Chantal, Armand, Rene, Joseph. She attended Cathedral Immaculee Conception de Ouaga for most of her childhood. She attended Deux Octobre in Guinea and continued her education at Gamal Abdel Nasser college in Guinea, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree. She enjoyed life, dancing and having fun with her friends and family. She was always the peacekeeper. She loved to be there and support anyone that needed her. She was the calm in the storm. Her name defined her personality. She was gentle. She would rather suffer alone then put the burden on others. As much as she was calm, she was also opinionated, always aiming to be truthful. She loved the Lord; He was her everything. Church was her second home. She had a big heart and was so forgiving.
Angelique had a passion for family. She loved traveling. She will always be remembered for her desire to unselfishly give of herself and her time. She raised several of her sibling’s children and took care of them all as if they were her own. She never made a difference between how she cared for her birth child and the children she adopted. From the outside, nobody could never tell that they weren’t her birth children. She opened her house to anyone that need a roof over their head. She always made sure that everyone was fed, always shared her food with the hungry.
Angelique was preceded in death by both parents Laurent Marchal and Helene Terrasson, her brothers: Rene Marchal and Joseph Marchal , her sisters: Claudette Marchal, Marie-Laurence and Chantal Marchal.
Angelique is survived by her children: Laurent Seck (sp. Erica Johnson-Seck), Fatoumata Weah (sp. Otis Weah), Angelique Conte, Cynthia Sarinana (sp. Humberto Sarinana) Eva Conte, Alphonse Marchal. Her grandchildren: Laurent Seck Jr, Jean-Francois Seck, Daniel Weah, Nathan Weah, Kiara Ouedrago, and Emilia Sarinana. Her siblings: Jeannette, Louis, Roger, George and Armand Marchal and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Psalm 23: 1-6: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
