Angela Larrissia Bagby, nicknamed “Tootsie”, was called home and gained her wings on February 20, 2023, at 11:11 am. She was born August 10, 1952 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the third of five children, and raised by her parents, Ernest and Inez Butler.
Angela attended Santa Ana High School and later met her surviving husband, Donald Ray Bagby, Sr., who she married on March 27, 1970. Angela was a loving mother of three children, Ernettea W. Lewis, Donald Ray Bagby, Jr. and Rebecca B. Bartley. Angela accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior when she and her children were baptized together on February 14, 1981, at Magnolia Ave. Baptist Church in Riverside, CA.
Angela decided to follow her dream of becoming a cosmetologist and attended Riverside Community College where she accomplished her goal with honors. After becoming a licensed cosmetologist, Angela received her second calling and became a foster parent for over 15 years. She not only cared for numerous foster children, she adopted three of them, Stefaun Bagby, Sanay Bagby, and Rico Bagby.
Angela is survived by her husband, Donald R. Bagby, Sr. and her five children, Ernettea (Lamont) Lewis, Donald (Vanessa) R. Bagby, Jr., Rebecca (Corey) Bartley, Stefaun Bagby, and the baby, Sanay Bagby. She also is survived by her siblings, Ronald (Lucy) Butler, Alma Williams, Deborah Butler, and Clifton Butler.
Angela was a devoted grandmother to Quincy Bagby-Lewis (Alicia), Angelica “Larrissia” Bagby (her name-sake), Elizabeth (Isiah) Holman, Yvonne Bagby, Jasime Bagby, Desiree (Shain) Bagby-Owens, Tatianna Bagby, Zhania Bagby, Donna Rae Bagby, Donald Ray Bagby, III, Nathaniel Bagby, Justyne Bagby, Nalen Bagby, Jeanyne Bagby, Arique Davion Bagby, Corey L. Bartley, Jr., Kyerra Bagby-Bartley, and 31 “great-grandchildren”, who all loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Inez Butler, grandmother, Rebecca B. Silver, who nicknamed her “Tootsie”, and Rico Bagby.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The service will be livestreamed at https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/angela-larrissia-bagby. After the service, the recorded livestream will be available at the same link location. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation Thursday evening from 7:00 pm until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
