Angel Mendez Alvarez

October 2, 1945 - February 1, 2021

Angel Mendez Alvarez of Allen, Texas passed away on February 1, 2021 at the age of 75. He was born on October 2, 1945 to Vicente and Angela (Mendez) Alvarez in Guatemala.  Angel graduated from high school in Guatemala.  He married Gloria Pineda on June 7, 1970 in Guatemala City.  Angel graduated from college where he majored in accounting.  In 1979, he and Gloria moved to the United States where he received his citizenship in 2003.  Angel worked very hard to make sure his family was taken care of.  He worked in various industries as a certified mechanic.  Angel was an avid leaner.  He was loving, nurturing, an outdoorsmen and family meant everything to him.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Pineda De Alvarez of Allen, Texas; three sons, Ronald Alvarez and wife, Connie of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Erick Alvarez and wife, Ruth Jimenez of Mexico, Angel O. Alvarez and wife, Michelle of Santa Ana, California; one daughter, Wendy Newsome of Allen, Texas; 15 grandchildren, Logan, Angel, Timothy, Kameron, Connor, Matthew, Eric, Christopher, Ethan, Randall, Alexis, Xiomara, Ronald, Frank, and Erick; 2 great grandchildren, Judith and Frank, Jr.; 2 brothers, George Alvarez and Carlos Alvarez; 2 sisters, Maria Luisa Alvarez and Maria Delacruz Alvarez; and numerous other loving family and friends.

Angel was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Guillermo.

A “come and go” visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.

In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of guests will be allowed to attend the Funeral Service.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Angel’s obituary page by clicking on the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/angel-mendez-alvarez. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location.

However, when the maximum number of guests are reached, those who would like to honor Angel and show their support to his family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle, where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.

En nombre de mi familia Pineda Matias y mi hija Sherly Hoffens, queremos darle nuestras condolencias a toda la familia Méndez Alvárez Pineda, para que Dios ponga consuelo en sus corazones y que nuestra Madre Santísima les de la resignación por el fallecimiento de mi tío Ángel Méndez Alvárez, para que Dios lo tenga gonzando de sus maravillas en el cielo, y le pido a Dios que le de consuelo a mis primos Ronald, Erick, Wendy, Ángel y en especial a mi tía Gloria, siempre estará en nuestras oraciones para que tenga el consuelo de Dios.
