Amanda Pool of Allen, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born on April 12, 1935, in El Salvador to parents, Bruno and Leonarda (Garcia) Alvarez.
Amanda lived a life full of creativity, strength, and deep love for her family. She had a special gift for the arts, especially in crafting beautiful floral arrangements that brought joy to many. A talented seamstress, Amanda spent years honing her craft while working at Levi Strauss, where her skill and attention to detail shone. Afterward, she channeled her entrepreneurial spirit into running a successful wholesale merchandise business.
In her later years, Amanda impacted countless lives at Allen High School, where she worked in the cafeteria. Known affectionately as “the lunch lady,” she was cherished by students and staff alike—not just for the meals she served, but for her kind heart, warm smile, and loving presence.
Above all, Amanda was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her legacy lives on through her beloved children: Juan Melgar and his wife, Jovita, of San Bruno, California; Leonor Castro and her husband, Mario, of Plano, Texas; Susie Isais and her husband, Jose, of Princeton, Texas; Walter Campos and his wife, Mary, of Surprise, Arizona; and Ranfis Lemus of Garland, Texas. She adored her grandchildren: John (Melissa), Daniel, Bianca (Ryan), Andres (Brittany), Mario Jr. (Camille), Stefan (Jesse), Christopher, Alexander, Walter Jr., Stephanie, William, and Nicole—and took immense joy in watching her many great-grandchildren grow.
Amanda shared many cherished years with her longtime companion, Jose Acevedo, and remained close to her beloved sister, Anacarman Alvarez, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly.
She is reunited in heaven with her parents and her husband, Gary Pool.
