IN LOVING MEMORY

Amanda Michelle "Mandi" Wendt

Jun 30 1986 - Aug 11 2022

Amanda Michelle “Mandi” Wendt is now safely at her eternal home with Jesus, Grandpa, and Pawpaw.

She was born June 30, 1986, in Dallas, TX and died in Panama City, FL on August 11, 2022.

Mandi is survived by her family, Adam, Caitlin, and Luke Wendt; parents, Ed and Twana Kent; brothers and sister-in-law, Marshall, Chrisie, Kirk, and Mason Kent; grandmothers, Jackie Kent and Oneta Faye Grounds; nieces and nephew, Hailie, Peyton, and Clementine Kent, Pepper Walker, and Atlas Montague; uncles and aunts, Ron and Robin Kent, and Misty and Scott Warner; cousins, Ashley and Nathan Kent, and Kennedy Warner;  biological aunts, uncles, and cousins she was preparing to meet for the very first time; and literally hundreds of other relatives in or from Texas; and thousands of close friends, classmates, teammates, friends from church, kid’s schools, scuba dive community, charities she served, and on and on and on...

She was preceded in death by her grand-fathers, Bill Kent and Glen Grounds.

Mandi was a scuba diving, mountain climbing, protective mama bear who took good care of her family. She is remembered for her beautiful eyes, her beautiful smile and big laugh, and her big hugs. She lived a robust, vivacious life. She was a scuba instructor and had a passion for scuba diving and any other outdoor adventure she could find. She was a baptized and confirmed child of Jesus Christ and shared the good news of His gospel with others in all walks of her life. She dearly loved her family, friends, and everyone else.

Mandi committed her life in service to others.  Her other passion in life was Alcoholics Anonymous.  We heard one testimony after another from members of her support group of how she constantly sponsored and mentored alcoholics, drug addicts, and people dealing with mental health problems try to stay sober, and to cope with their addictions and other problems in life. They said she always acknowledged every single person, took personal time to share with them, and finished with a big smile, hug, and the good news of Jesus. One after another, we heard “I am sober X years today because of Mandi Wendt.” She was always there when they needed her.

In Mandi’s final act of service to others, she offered her organs in donation so that others may live on and see through those beautiful eyes again.

Family will welcome guests for a visitation from 6-8 P.M., Friday, August 19, 2022, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, 701 North Cedar Street, Leonard, TX 75452.  A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home. Following the service there will be a procession to Leonard Cemetery for burial.

Pallbearers for Mandi’s service are Ryan Grounds, Jeremiah Fields, Nathan Kent, Ben Kent, and Lyndon Miranda. Pastor Jon Thomas will be officiating and the music will be under the direction of Philip Farmer.

There will be a memorial service in Panama City, Florida at 5 P.M., Sunday, August 28, 2022 at St. Andrews State Park.
