Alvin Ray Cook, Sr.

Alvin Ray Cook Sr., 79, of McKinney Texas, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on May 13, 2022.  

Ray was born on November 19th, 1942 in Dallas, Texas, to Lucille Alva Cook and JC Cook.  He was a loving little brother to one, and the “cool” big brother to eleven.  Ray joined the US Air Force in 1962 where he traveled the world and served honorably in Guam during the Vietnam War, completing his service in 1970 as a Staff Sergeant.

Ray married Janete Sue Gallagher in 1978 and made their home in Dallas, Texas.  Ray was a maintenance engineer and became a lifelong “fixer,” loving to tinker and repair any items around the house. 

Ray is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings James Cook, Mary Pineda, Richard Reeves. 

Ray is survived by his wife of 43 years and their five children: Patricia Velasquez and her husband, Cesar, of Frisco, Texas; Carrie Miller and her husband, Jerry, of McKinney, Texas; Master Sergeant Alvin Ray “Ace” Cook Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Christine Garcia and her husband, Roswell, of McKinney, Texas; and Jamie Saucedo and her husband, Pedro, of McKinney, Texas. 

Ray was surrounded with love from his nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and nine siblings.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 19, 2022 at at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.  The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Ray’s obituary page by clicking on the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/alvin-ray-cook-sr. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location.  Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.
