Alta Yates Sanford of Frisco, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, in Carrollton, Texas. Alta was born on January 13, 1919, to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Yates. She graduated from high school in Celina, Texas, and the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. After graduation, she taught school in Edinburg, Texas, and worked for the Air Force in Alamagorda, New Mexico, for a brief time. She soon returned to Texas to marry her husband, Charles Sanford of Dallas, also a North Texas graduate. After Charles finished his military service, they lived in Dallas until moving to Frisco in 1993. Charles preceded her in death on December 1, 2005. Alta was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Earl Yates of Frisco, Texas, and Leon Yates of Denton, Texas.
Alta is survived by one daughter, Suzanne Hoxworth and her husband, David, of Findlay, Ohio; two granddaughters, Alesha Logan of Marietta, Georgia, and Dawn Copeland and her husband, Dr. Steve Copeland, of Findlay, Ohio. Alta is also survived by five great grandchildren: Chloe and Libbey Logan and Michael, Ellie and Emily Copeland; one sister-in-law: Wanda Yates; numerous nieces, nephews and their children.
A Funeral Service will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Frisco on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina. Family and friends are invited to a Visitation at the funeral on Monday beginning at 10:00 AM, prior to the funeral service.
