Allen Smith Jr. (Smitty), age 68 transitioned peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2019, at 12:13pm at Baylor Scott White Medical Center in Carrollton, Texas. He was born on January 1, 1951, in Dallas, Texas, to Allen Smith Sr. and Gladys Maddox. Allen married the love of his life, Chuntay Simmons, in The Colony, Texas on June 20, 1998. He obtained his Associate’s Degree and worked for the United States Postal Service for forty years. Allen was a proud member of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Allen lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, and had an uncanny ability to reach people in a positive way. Allen is survived by his beloved wife, Chuntay Smith; his son, Lamont Smith and his wife, Kim, of San Diego, California; his daughter, Kasundra Wilkes, of Little Elm, Texas; four grandchildren, Marcus Williams, Markaela Williams, Payton Smith and Olivia Smith; six sisters, Peggy Cooper and Vickie Watson of Grand Prairie, Texas, Rose Scott of Carrollton, Texas, and Mary Suber and her husband, Phil, of Frisco, Texas, Billie Ruth Williams of Dallas, Texas, and the late Donna Kaye Veals; two brothers, Marlin Smith of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Curtis Smith of Raeford, North Carolina; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; mother in law, Frances Simmons and three sisters in law and two brothers in law of Bowie, Maryland; special friend Norma Taylor and a host of other friends. Allen’s parents, Allen Smith Sr. and Gladys Maddox, and his stepson, DJ Harrington, preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be held at Berkshire Chapel, 9073 Berkshire Drive, Frisco, Texas, on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Prezel McCullough officiating. Visitation is at Berkshire Chapel two hours prior, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
Monday, September 23, 2019, at 11:30am Allen Smith Jr. will be laid to rest at the DFW National Cemetery.
