IN LOVING MEMORY

Alice E. Glendenning

Jun 22 1929 - Dec 01 2021

Alice Elizabeth (Easterling) Glendenning of La Vista, Nebraska passed away on December 1, 2021 at the age of 92. She was born on June 22, 1929 to Burl Rudolff and Mary Annell (Hopkins) Easterling in Laurel, Mississippi. Alice sang and played the piano at 2nd Avenue Baptist Church. She was raised in a place and time where young ladies were taught to cook and be good hostesses. Alice was excellent at both. Family, friends, and strangers were always welcome in her home. She was a wonderful cook; breakfast casseroles, hearty southern meals, and the very best desserts blessed all who ate at her table. She always knew and prepared the favorite foods of whomever was with her. Alice enjoyed playing Keno, slot machines, loved to bowl, and loved being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her swimming pool in Plano, Texas was a favorite family gathering place, at Christmas her house was beautifully decorated inside and out for the young and young at heart. Alice married Harry Glendenning, October 25, 1952. As the wife of a career Air Force officer, she bore children in Minnesota, Mississippi, Germany, and Nebraska, and helped the family adjust to cultural differences in Japan. Alice worked in the 70's at Brandeis and in the early 80"s at 7-11 (to spend time with Harry after he retired from the military). But for most of her adult life, she was a housewife and homemaker. She was often driving the family station wagon full of kids going to a baseball game or swim meet, and she was always in the stands to cheer on her children and grandchildren. Alice was diagnosed with dementia in 2010 and went to memory care assistance in 2012. Her latter years could not diminish her light of laughter and love. Alice was a strong woman, a good wife, mother, and friend. She had a wonderful smile and laugh that matched the sparkly bling clothes she loved to wear. We will all miss her. The world has lost an angel, heaven has gained one.

Alice is survived by her sister, Barbara Smith and husband, Don; sons, Stewart Glendenning and wife, Diane, Don Glendenning and wife, Debbie, Bill Glendenning, Chuck Glendenning and wife, Sharee; daughters, Betsy Ulrich and husband, Darryl, and Barbara Clark; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Colonel Harry Stewart Glendenning; mother, Mary Annell; father, Birl Rudolph Easterling; brothers, Dick, Harvey, Billy Ray, LC, and Tommy Easterling.
