Alice Slaney Davis

Alice Slaney Davis “Alice of Dallas” could light up a room and never met a stranger, sadly this legendary Dallas Realtor and luminous human being passed away Saturday 23 June 2018.  She was born to Wesley Gray and Margaret (Flegal) Woodring in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania in 1932. She attended Thompson College, married James Slaney and lived in Baltimore Maryland, Roanoke Virginia, Buffalo New York, Pittsburg Pennsylvania, Los Angeles California and then to Dallas Texas in1966. In 1970 she began her career in real estate, a career that remained active until early May 2018. Alice was involved in countless TAR Boards and Commissions, was a Realtor& Broker Emeritus, a mentor and role model for many. She joined Ebby Halliday Realtors in 1990, managed their Coit at Campbell office before joining the Management Team. At the time of her passing she was Director of the Ebby Referral Associates Alumni Group. According to Alice “Realtors never retire they just get Listless”. In addition she was a Founding Member and past President of the Northwood Woman’s Club and involved in many charities focused on supporting woman during their journey through life.   

Alice is survived by her children Scott Slaney and his wife Lisa of San Francisco, California, and Lynn Slaney Silguero and her husband Paul, of Frisco, Texas; her grandson, Josef Slaney of Houston, Texas; her brother James Woodring and his wife Beverly, of Cary, North Carolina; as well as nieces, nephews, in-laws and the thousands of friends and colleagues she cared about so deeply.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Floyd “Bud” Selbst, Richard Davis, and James Slaney; her sister Margaret Capatch; and her brothers, Wesley Woodring and Bob Woodring.

The Memorial Service will be held at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, 9800 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas 75230 on June 29th 2018, at 11a.m. officiated by Reverend Mark Brainerd. A reception at the church will follow the service. Internment will take place in Philipsburg, PA in the fall of 2018.
