Shirley Alford

Shirley Alford, age 73, of McKinney, Texas passed away July 4, 2007. She was born in Oklahoma to Luther Ray and Alma (Hillsberry) Hatley. On September 22, 1951 she married Al Alford in Garland, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in McKinney. She was a devoted Christian and wanted everyone to know Jesus better. Shirley was an avid quilter and a member of the McKinney and the Dallas Quilter's Guilds. She loved to cook, sing and was known for her joy and laughter. Shirley was a lifelong partner to all of her husband’s ventures and adventures. Shirley graduated from Garland High School and was a member of the Class of ’51. She is survived by her husband, Al Alford of McKinney; son, Lance Alford and his wife, Debi of McKinney; daughters, Beth Ann Parson and her husband, Thomas of Celina, Cynthia Helton and her husband, Jody of Ft. Worth and Amy Herron and her husband, David of Celina; ten grandchildren, Kristen and her husband Matt, Alyssa, Colin, Jon, Julie, Katie, Matt, Maezi, Carli and Mitchell; anticipated great-granddaughter, Abigail; brother, Jimmy Hatley of Garland; sisters, Jean Poovey of Garland and Alycia Mayo of Sachse and a host of other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Alma Hatley; brother, Johnny Hatley and her sister, Martha Skelton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of McKinney with Dr. H. Bailey Stone and Rev. Randy Morlan officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Thursday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
