Zackie Wayne Burcham

Zackie Wayne Burcham, age 83, passed away while peacefully sleeping on October 28, 2016. He will always be remembered as a generous, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.

Born in Dallas, Zackie graduated from Sulphur Springs, TX High School and attended SMU.  He went on to become a well-respected and successful Certified Public Accountant (since 1961) and Certified Fraud Examiner.  Wayne’s business career began in public accounting and moved into the automobile industry where he spent over fifty years.

Wayne moved his family to Tulsa in the early 1970s to continue his career in the automobile industry.  His family enjoyed weekends at the lake boating and riding motorcycles.  Wayne enjoyed woodworking, cars, motorcycles and boats.  And Wayne had a passion for airplanes.  He was a commercial pilot with multi-engine and instrument ratings.  He enjoyed flying family and friends on trips including Arkansas and Texas. He and Jean loved attending the horse races in Hot Springs.  Zackie was known as a great storyteller and loved to share his tales of the people and places he encountered, including his airplane travels.  He loved laughing, chatting, taking pictures, grilling steaks and drinking an occasional margarita. 

Zackie was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and was preceded in death by his parents Zack Green Burcham and Dorothy Tharp Burcham and a step-grandson Joshua Wilson.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean Hagar Burcham, and their four children and spouses, Sandra Kay Burcham (William R.) Young, Landon Wayne (Michelle) Burcham, Brian Nolan Burcham and Deborah Ann Burcham (Chris) Grube, Grandchildren William Ryan Young, Joshua Andrew Young, Katherine Jean (Katie) Linn and Abigail (Abby) Renne Linn.  He is also survived by 5 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren as well as sisters-and-brother-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of clients and friends. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 2 - 4 p.m. at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home – Frisco.  Funeral Service will be on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, with a visitation on Monday at 1 p.m.
