Winnie “Memaw” Parr of Lucas, Texas passed away June 20, 2012 at the age of 77. She was born September 24, 1934 in Lowry Crossing, Texas to Homer Lee and Bertha Mae (Smith) Thomas. On July 24, 1953 Winnie married Bobby Ray Parr in Lucas, Texas. She lived a joyous life until her recent battle with cancer concluded it. Memaw, or Hookum as she was called by so many, spent most of her life working as a seamstress. Memaw was known by everyone for her cooking and her love of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Parr of Lucas; children, Debbie Spears and husband Robert of Lucas, Gary Parr and wife Kim of Farmersville, Texas; grandchildren, Bo and Rachel Spears of Wylie, Texas, Luke Parr of Farmersville, Texas, Jake Parr of Stephenville, Texas, Megan Parr of Stephenville, Texas, Sammi Spears of Lucas, Texas and fiancé Cody Clark of Branch, Texas; great-grandchildren, Angelina and Jayden Spears; sister, Betty Rose of Princeton, Texas; brother Leonard “Sonny” Thomas of McKinney, Texas; sisters-in-laws, Peggy Davis and husband James of Arlington, Texas and Joy Lewis of McKinney, Texas; eight nieces and nephews and many other loving friends and relatives.

Winnie is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Bertha Thomas; brothers-in-law, G.T. Rose and James Lewis; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Ruth Parr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6 pm on Friday evening, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
