Wilma Elizabeth (Blake) Hines

Wilma Elizabeth (Blake) Hines, age 89, of McKinney, Texas passed away November 2, 2005. She was born January 29, 1916 in Katon, Texas, to Lillian (Morgan) Blake and Joseph Crawford Blake. They moved to Haskell, Texas when she was three years old. She attended Gauntt School in Haskell County until she was in the ninth grade, then she went to Santa Anna to finish high school, but she did not finish, she returned to Haskell and married Willis Weaver Hines on December 16, 1932 at the age of 16. They farmed the Homestead farm and lived in Haskell County until 1960. They moved to Knox City, Texas in Knox County in 1960 and lived there until 1993 when Elizabeth moved to Richardson to live with her daughter. Elizabeth worked for Lowery’s Department Store in Knox City for 23 years, and she also worked at the Aging Center for five years. She was a member of Eastern Star Lodge 119 from 1961. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Knox City from 1960 until her death. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Flowers of McKinney, Texas; son, Roy Hines New Braunfels, Texas; grandchildren, Rick Shields and fiancée, Lynn Hogue, Victor Shields and wife, Sonia, Clay Hines and wife, Kim and Leslie Hines; great grandchildren, Joshua, Victoria and Kaitlyn Shields and Shea Smith; sisters, Betty R. Rogers of Marble Falls, Texas and Fay Jean Reynolds and husband, Bill of Lufkin, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis W. Hines; brother F.C. Blake; and parents. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2005 at Haskell Cemetery (Willow Cemetery) in Haskell, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Friday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
