Willie James Wattley, Sr. of McKinney, Texas passed away January 20, 2016 at the age of 91. He was born January 20, 1925 to Sam Wattley and Mollie (Warren) Wattley in Anna, Texas. Willie served his country proudly in the United States Army. He married Martha Geneva Crockett on May 18, 1942 in Melissa, Texas. Willie was a graduate of Southern Bible Institute and received a Doctorate Degree from the School of the scriptures. Willie was a 32nd Degree Mason. He served on the McKinney City Council for over twenty years and as a Mayor Pro Tem for three terms. Willie was a faithful servant in the church and lived a grand life.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Wattley of McKinney; son, Charles S. Wattley also of McKinney, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Willie was preceded in death by his son, Willie James Wattley, Jr., parents, and eight siblings.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2016 at The McKinney First Baptist Church, 401 W. Erwin Ave, McKinney, Texas 75069 with Rev. Herbert L. Walter officiating. His earthly remains will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
