Willie "Bill" Lee Shelton, Jr.

Willie “Bill” Lee Shelton, Jr., age 82, of McKinney, Texas passed away October 29, 2012. Bill served on active duty aboard the USS Essex during the Korean War and subsequently with the Military Sea Transportation Service Unit in Korea. Bill assisted in the return of Chinese POW’s to their requested destination of nationalist China. He also served for many years with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, retiring as Chief of the Regional Staffing Service Division. After retirement, Bill and Vere managed their own business, providing retirement planning training for federal employees. He is survived by his wife, Vere B. Shelton of McKinney, Texas; son, Christopher Shelton and wife, Tina of Havertown, Pennsylvania; daughter, Lexie McFassel of Milford, Delaware; step-son, Ted Robinson and wife, Kathleen of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Rose, Grace, Elizabeth, Christopher, Rene, Jeffrey, Kyle, Robert and Amy; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Lee Shelton, Sr. and Thelma Shelton. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 10, 2012 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Randy Morlan officiating.
