William J. "Bill" Jacks

William J. “Bill” Jacks, age 91, of Dallas, Texas, passed away December 6, 2013, in Dallas. Bill was born October 28, 1922, in Waco, Texas, to Thomas and Mary (Gibson) Jacks. He married Nana Beth McCulloch on July 17, 1943, in Houston, Texas. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps in the 509th Bomb Group on Tinian island in the western Pacific. Their planes dropped the two atomic bombs on Japan that brought the war to an end. Bill went to work for Southwestern Bell in Waco in 1942 and transferred to Dallas in 1979 where he retired from AT&T in 1984. He was very involved with his grandkids. Bill was an avid cyclist, riding well into his 80’s. He also enjoyed hunting, reading, and traveling with his wife.

He is survived by his son, Jim Jacks and wife, Becky of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Judy James and husband, Jay of Sherman, Texas; grandchildren, Amy Tokarz and husband, Andrew of Lucas, Texas, Brennan Kate Lowery, of New York City, New York, Kemp Lowery and wife, Kelly of Frankston, Texas, Jason James and wife, Kassidy of Lewisville, Texas, Joel James and wife, Lisa of Cincinnati, Ohio, Molly Jacks of Austin, Texas, and Peyton Jacks of Dallas, Texas; five great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Herchel Lowery and wife, Patricia of Allen, Texas; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Thomas and Mary Jacks, wife, Beth Jacks, daughter, Becky Lowery, sister, Frances Kehl, and brothers, Dan, Lowell, and Leonard Jacks.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home.
