William "Bill" Tracey Sheldon

Beloved husband and father, William Tracey “Bill” Sheldon, age 67, of McKinney, Texas, passed away March 22, 2012. Bill was born June 8, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ellis Henderson and Evelyn May (Holub) Sheldon and grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. Bill served his country in the United States Navy, aboard the USS Theodore E. Chandler (DD717).  He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Bill was a member of Delta Sigma Pi fraternity, where he served as president.  After graduation, he began his 36 year career at Mobil Oil, ending with his retirement in 2004.   Bill married Lorraine Marie Baska on November 29, 1969, in Omaha.  After moving from Omaha, he and his family resided in many areas of the country, including Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington D.C., before settling in the DFW area.  His interests included fishing, square dancing, kayaking, traveling and attending grandchildren’s sporting events. Most of all he enjoyed weekly family dinner nights.  He was a member and current president of the Rebel Rousers Square Dance Group. Bill also volunteered at the McKinney Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels. He was a student and served on the Board of Directors with S.A.I.L. (Seniors Active in Learning) at Collin College in Plano, Texas.  Bill was an active member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic community in McKinney.

 

Bill is survived by his son, Todd Sheldon, and his wife, Krista, of McKinney; his daughter, Kim Sheldon of McKinney; grandchildren, Doug Sheldon, Kelly Sheldon, and Billy Feather; dear friend, Nancy Wilkerson; sister, Barbara Schmid-Egr and husband Emmett of Omaha; brother, Robert “Bob” Sheldon and wife Terri of Omaha; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, March 26, 2012, at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in McKinney. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:30 PM and a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 PM on Sunday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.

Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels or McKinney Food Pantry.
