IN LOVING MEMORY

Wilda Rose Sontheimer

Jan 12 1926 - Mar 28 2014

Wilda Rose Sontheimer, age 88, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Frisco, Texas passed away on March 28, 2014 in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born on January 12, 1926 in Clarkton, Missouri to Clarence and Cona (McFarland) Reeves, the sixth of eight children.   Wilda married Eugene Thomas Sontheimer on March 17, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri. After her husband’s death in 2012, she relocated to Norman.

She was a homemaker, an active participant in her community, an artist and a member of the Roman Catholic Faith. She and her husband met while working at American Airlines in St. Louis, Missouri. Moving to Tulsa, Wilda was active in the Catholic Family Movement (CFM) and organized the Sunday preschool religious education program for her Tulsa parish based on the principles of Montessori. She also worked at the first Child Care Center of America in Tulsa at 21st and Sheridan. In addition to her volunteer work for a variety of political organizations and candidates in Tulsa, she was particularly proud of her work as a consumer advocate and troubleshooter for KJRH Channel 2 in Tulsa.   A creative person, her family remembers her couture sewing, quilts, ink and watercolor portraits, poems and, especially, her gardens. Her big sister Elaine and little brother Gary survive her. Eight of her nine children survive her: Scott, Mark, Kieran, Sally, Don, Joe, Randy and Connie. Her son Andrew went before her in 2009. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Nicole, Emily, Isabella, Rebecca, Andrea, Willis, Rosie, Martha, Katy, Anne and Joe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Frisco, Texas with interment following at Ridgeview West Memorial Park in Frisco.
